We Started Where You Are

Back in 2019, we weren't financial gurus. Just two people frustrated with how investment education felt like a locked vault — either oversimplified nonsense or incomprehensible jargon designed to make you feel small.

Linnea had spent years analyzing portfolios for institutional clients, watching the same patterns repeat. Declan worked in client services at a mid-sized firm, listening to people describe their financial fears in whispered phone calls. We kept asking ourselves: why does understanding money have to feel this isolating?

Honest Conversations

We won't pretend investing is simple. But we also refuse to gatekeep knowledge behind unnecessarily complex language. Our approach is straightforward — we explain concepts the way we'd want them explained to us. No condescension. No shortcuts that skip the important parts. Just clear reasoning and practical context that actually sticks.

Real Experience

Every workshop we run reflects lessons from actual market cycles, client conversations, and our own learning curve. We've watched people make decisions driven by fear, excitement, or outdated advice from a relative. Those moments shaped how we teach — focusing on decision frameworks rather than hot tips that evaporate by next quarter.

Long-Term Thinking

Quick wins make for exciting headlines, but terrible investment education. We're more interested in helping you build understanding that compounds over years. That means addressing risk tolerance, behavioral patterns, and how economic shifts actually affect different asset types. The boring fundamentals that create genuine financial confidence.

How We Actually Work

Our sessions don't follow a rigid script. We start by understanding where you're coming from — your financial background, what keeps you up at night, what you've tried before that didn't click.

Then we build from there. Sometimes that means diving deep into tax-sheltered accounts. Other times it's unpacking why certain investment products get pushed so hard despite questionable long-term value. We adjust based on what you need, not what fits neatly into a predetermined curriculum.

People often tell us they appreciate that we don't pretend to have all the answers. Markets change. Regulations shift. New financial instruments emerge. What we offer is a framework for evaluating these changes critically — and the confidence to ask better questions when someone's trying to sell you something.

The People Behind the Work

We're not a massive team. Just two people who care deeply about making investment knowledge accessible without dumbing it down or overwhelming you with unnecessary complexity.

Linnea Thorne, Founder and Investment Educator at Nykar Vuoux

Linnea Thorne

Founder & Investment Educator

Spent eight years analyzing institutional portfolios before realizing most people never get access to that kind of clear-eyed analysis. Now focuses on translating complex market dynamics into practical understanding for individuals building their financial foundation. Believes strongly that investment education should challenge you without making you feel inadequate.

Declan Voss, Co-Founder and Client Relations specialist at Nykar Vuoux

Declan Voss

Co-Founder & Client Relations

Background in behavioral finance and client services taught him that financial decisions are rarely purely rational. Specializes in helping people identify their own biases and build decision-making processes that account for real human behavior. Thinks most investment advice fails because it ignores how people actually think under pressure.

Our Commitment to You

We're not here to manage your money or sell you products. Our job is to help you understand investment concepts well enough to make informed decisions that align with your actual goals and risk tolerance. That might sound basic, but it's surprisingly rare in an industry that often prioritizes transactions over genuine education.

If that approach resonates with you, we'd welcome the chance to work together. Our next workshops begin in February 2026, and we're already having conversations with people interested in building stronger financial foundations.
